(ELLIS) PhD student

We are hiring a new PhD student through the ELLIS PhD program! This PhD student will be focusing on developing new capabilities for tabular foundation models. The PhD student will be advised by Madelon Hulsebos and based in the (TRL Lab at CWI). The ELLIS co-supervisor can be discussed during the interview process and start of the PhD.

Applicants are required to have a master degree in AI, computer science, or related fields, with a strong interest in tabular foundation models and/or causal reasoning.

The PhD student ideally starts between May 2027 and October 2027, and is fully funded for 4-year with a gross monthly salary that increases from €3,115 in year 1 up to €3,989 in year 4. You will receive an extra holiday allowance (8%) and year-end bonus (8.233%), as well as 42 vacation days. More about the working conditions can be found here.

Postdoctoral Researcher

Did you recently complete a PhD in the direction of foundation models, world models, reinforcement learning, or causal reasoning with a strong track-record; and are you interested in developing new capabilities in Tabular AI, and actually building things? You might be a good fit for a new postdoc position in the TRL Lab. We are hiring a postdoctoral researcher who is particularly interested in building new open-source models, tools, and benchmarks for tabular models for inferential reasoning, rather than purely focusing on papers. The postdoc will also collaborate with PhD students in the lab who are working in this area.

The postdoc position is funded for 2 years with a gross monthly salary that ranges from €3,630 to €4,374, depending on post-PhD experience. You will receive an extra holiday allowance (8%) and year-end bonus (8.233%), as well as 42 vacation days.
